Hamburg launches Smart Port network
[ April 6, 2016 // Chris ]Hamburg is spearheading an international network of ports to exchange information and develop solutions to pressing problems facing the industry. ChainPORT will provide an information network between partner ports – , Felixstowe, Busan, Singapore, Shenzhen, Los Angeles and Antwerp and at the same time create a basis for joint development of innovative solutions.
Hamburg Port Authority says it wants to go beyond traditional bilateral port partnerships, with a small group of selected, leading ports taking on subject areas and developing innovations together and establish a global chain of ‘Smart Ports’. In addition to digitalisation and networking, how to handle increasingly large container ships will be another important topic that presents a challenge to all ports.
