Europa appoints customs and contact centre chiefs

Europa Worldwide Group has appointed Lieven Hendrickx (pictured) as head of its customs team. A Belgian national, Hendrickx has worked for a number of leading logistics operators over the last 30 years in continental Europe and the Middle East and was most employed by business consultancy Deloitte.

He will initially be based in Oostende, with a team of 15 based in France, Belgium and the UK.  Europa is recruiting for additional customs supervisors and clerks at all its sites as it gears up for Brexit.

He commented, “I’m delighted to be joining Europa to lead the customs team ensuring we provide effective clearance support for our customers…It’s great to be a part of that team as we continue through to create a clear path for our customers and partners.”

Europa managing director Andrew Baxter, added: “The Brexit transition period is quickly coming to an end. Soon all goods travelling between the UK and the EU will need to go through a customs process. Whilst some areas are still unclear, we must all ensure we prepared.  Creating our own team, headed up by a skilled operator such as Lieven means that both Europa and our customers will be in the strongest position on 1 January 2021.”

Europa Contact Centre, which offers outsourced contact centre services, has meanwhile appointed Graham Henry as its new general manager. Europa Worldwide Group acquired the multi-channel response handling bureau in 2019, following the purchase of some of the trade and assets of Menzies Response, and rebranded it Europa Contact Centre. Graham Henry will be leading the management team to develop the business.
