Dreamliner for Philadelphia and Calgary
[ July 15, 2014 // Chris ]IAG Cargo is to introduce the Boeing 787 Dreamliner on its routes from London Heathrow to: Philadelphia and Calgary, increasing total capacity on each flight to 14 tons. Moreover, advanced hold air conditioning makes the B787 ideal for the growing trade in temperature-controlled pharmaceuticals, serviced by IAG Cargo’s Constant Climate product. This will be of particular benefit on the Calgary route, says IAG.
One of IAG Cargo’s twice daily flights to Philadelphia is already operated by the B787, while the second service continues to be operated by the B777. The route will revert to being serviced by B767 and B777 aircraft from the start of the winter schedule. The daily service to Calgary is due to be served by the B787 later this year.
IAG Cargo’s regional commercial manager North America, Joe LeBeau, commented: “This announcement marks the latest stage in our fleet modernisation programme, which has already seen us deploy next-generation aircraft on key routes on our network including Singapore, Hyderabad and Austin. When complete, this will make us one of the best-equipped cargo carriers in the industry and will enable us to further improve the Premium products we offer our customers, in particular the strategically important Constant Climate product.”
