Grim cargo
[ December 11, 2014 // Chris ]Specialist transport Van der Vlist Transport Group had the task of moving the remains of the ill-fated B777 Malaysian Airlines’ airline from Ukraine to the headquarters of the Dutch Ministry of Defence. The plane was apparently shot down on 17 July when it was flying over a region where Russian-backed separatists were battling Ukraine Government forces.
Before sending drivers and project-coordinators to Kharkiv, 450 km north of the original crash site, Van der Vlist carefully checked the local security situation in and around Kharkiv. Specialists also advised about how to safely load, secure and transport the cargo, after which four convoys of trucks were sent out to Kharkiv and they are now being unloaded at Gilze-Rijen airport in the Netherlands.
