Thailand update

Freight services in Thailand are being badly disputed by flooding in the capital, Bangkok, reports forwarder Geodis Wilson. It said that Air Freight Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi International Airport is operational, but all flights to and from the city’s Don Muang Airport have been cancelled. The water crest has not reached Suvanrabhumi and AOT has neither issued any flood warning nor announcement.

The Port Authority of Thailand has temporarily halted import services at Bangkok port on 27 October but other ports are open and operating normally.
Road and rail routes in the north of Bangkok have also been affected and cargo may be delayed throughout the country – 105 roads have been affected, and 75 of of them are completely closed.

APL and APL Logistics, the shipping and supply chain management businesses of Singapore’s NOL Group,are providing free containerized transport of relief supplies and rescue boats to outlying Thai provinces, a rescue paddle boat, and a 40-foot container for a barrier to hold back floodwaters. They are also donating $20,000 to the Red Cross in Thailand and $6,000 from employees to relief agencies.
