Brussels drops shipping line action

The European Commission has closed an investigation into 14 container shipping companies launched in November 2013 without finding any infringement of EU competition law. It related to the use of general rate increase (GRI) announcements in the liner shipping sector. However, the shipping lines involved have agreed to change the way they make GRI announcements in future. Announcements will include the total price resulting from the increase and further elements to increase transparency for customers.
