Great flight, shame about the landing
[ August 24, 2016 // Chris ]The world’s longest aircraft – the Airlander 10 – has been damaged after nosediving on landing during its second test flight, the BBC reports.
The 302ft long aircraft plane- airship – hit the ground at its Cardington Airfield base in Bedfordshire. The aircraft cockpit sustained most of the damage but developer HAV said all the crew were uninjured.
A spokesman was reported as saying: “The flight went really well and the only issue was when it landed.”
HAV, which took over the project from the US miliary, is hoping to develop the Airlander for a number of uses, including cargo transport.
