UPS tests cargo drone
[ September 30, 2016 // Chris ]UPS has begun testing the use of drones for commercial deliveries to remote or difficult-to-access locations with manufacturer CyPhy Works. Testing began 22 September with a mock delivery of urgently needed medicine from Beverly, Massachusetts to Children’s Island, three miles off the Atlantic coast.
The CyPhy drone used is a battery-powered drone that flies itself, is extremely durable, has night vision and features secure communications that cannot be intercepted or disrupted.
In August, the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), issued new rules that expanded the uses of drones in commercial applications.
