Seatruck adds space to Ireland

All-freight operator Seatruck Ferries is to add a fourth ship to its fast Liverpool Dublin service.
The ‘Clipper Ranger’ will go into operation from 10 October, increasing midweek departures to four each way per day.
Seatruck says it is experiencing “unprecedented demand” from traditional short sea driver accompanied operators who are now looking to switch volume to its long sea operation and that its freight volumes have grown at roughly three times the market so far in 2016.
Seatruck is also adding capacity to its Heysham Dublin daily service with the 105 trailer ‘Clipper Point’ also from 10 October.
The upgrade anticipates opening of the M6 link, on 31 October, which will connect junction 34 of the M6 directly to the port, completely bypassing the current bottleneck in Lancaster.
The new ship can also carry taller trailers and offers a faster turnaround time in port. The ship also benefits from a ramp interface to the lower hold instead of a lift. Drivers will get single berth cabins and a comfortable lounge.
The larger, more powerful P series ferry joins two sister vessels which already trade from Heysham on Seatruck’s route to Warrenpoint in Northern Ireland.
