Ogiermann joins Volga-Dnepr

Airfreight industry veteran Ulrich Ogiermann (pictured, below) has joined Russian-owned Volga-Dnepr group as senior vice president for operations and deputy general director for CargoLogicManagement. He will be responsible for the implementation of Volga-Dnepr’s international cargo airlines group strategy and will manage control of the airlines’ annual operational results and operational standards compliance. From 2012 to 2017, he was chief cargo officer for Qatar Airways and, between 2003 and 2011, was president and chief executive of Cargolux Airlines, which he had joined in 1998. He also served as chairman of The International Air Cargo Association (TIACA) in 2009 and 2010.

Meanwhile, GE Aviation partnered with Volga-Dnepr Airlines to return the GE9X, the world’s largest jet engine to Ohio, following on-wing testing in Victorville, California. Volga-Dnepr provided logistics support for the GE9X engine’s for additional testing at GE Aviation’s test operations facility in Peebles. This was Volga-Dnepr’s second flight in support of GE’s GE9X program having previously transported the engine from Columbus to Victorville late last November.
