DHL offers Europe to Asia LCL rail

DHL Global Forwarding has introduced a new less-than-container load (LCL) service from Duisburg, Germany, to Chengdu, China. The new DHL Railconnect LCL service offers timings of up to 29 days door-to-door between the main economic areas, faster than by sea and at more reasonable cost than air freight, says the forwarder.

Head of China rail, multimodal Europe, Thomas Kowitzki, said that with the increasing use of the rail services by the automotive, manufacturing, engineering and chemical sectors for spare parts, components, raw materials and finished goods, demand for LCL solutions has also increased.
