Rhenus launches Manchester to UAE sea route

Rhenus Logistics UK has launched seafreight services from Manchester to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and is predicting further growth in the Middle East as the region shifts from its historic reliance on oil as a source of revenue. The forwarder is anticipating increased demand for this service, especially for LCL (less than container load) shipments to the region.

Rhenus ’ has set up a multi-modal logistics hub in Dubai offering customs clearance and extensive warehousing giving full control of consignments before and after transit. The Rhenus Group has its own country organisation in the UAE and has opened its first business site in Dubai, operating there through Rhenus Logistics Gulf.

Rhenus currently ships around 20teu from its Manchester headquarters to the Middle East, along with around 10 airfreight consignments per month to Doha, Qatar alone.

Rhenus UK director and country manager Gary Dodsworth said: “One area that Rhenus Dubai really stands out is in its ability to accommodate the requests of customers, specifically when they are locally based and importing from the UK. It’s their local expertise that allows them to coordinate for goods to stay within the warehouse and advise on the customs clearance of those items.”
