ICL switches to Southampton

[ July 26, 2019   //   ]

The first Independent Container Line (ICL) vessel arrived at DP World Southampton on 25 July after the carrier announced that it would be moving its UK call from Liverpool to improve year round schedule reliability. The managing partners explained that increasingly adverse weather conditions in the North Atlantic has caused delays to its service each winter and that the change would bring improved reliability. The service calls at Chester, Pennsylvania, Wilmington, North Carolina, and then onto Southampton, and Antwerp with four ships on a 28 day rotation providing a weekly service.
In a customer communication, managing partners John Kirkland and Dale Ross said that arrangements had been made to ensure that cargo was picked up and delivered on time.
Head of UK Ports, DP World, James Leeson, added: “DP World is delighted to welcome ICL to Southampton which is considered the highest productivity terminal in the UK.  Working closely with ICL we look forward to demonstrating to its customers our trademark service for reliability, productivity and efficiency.”
