Work underway to double Congo port capacity
[ December 5, 2019 // Chris ]International Container Terminal Services (ICTSI) and its local partners have initiated the second phase expansion of the Matadi Gateway Terminal in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), srving the capital, Kinshsa. The Phase 2 expansion will more than double annual throughput capacity to 400,000teu a year. There are also plans for a public private partnership to dredge the Congo River initially to a depth of 10 metres and subsequently to 12.5 metres, due to start in 2020.
