BIFA signs up to freight rates club

[ July 2, 2020   //   ]

The British International Freight Association (BIFA) has signed an agreement with Drewry to help bring the maritime research consultancy’s confidential freight rate benchmarking service to its members.

It follows the signing in June by European forwarder’s group umbrella CLECAT of an agreement to raise awareness the Club amongst its membership. Launched in 2019, Drewry Forwarder Benchmarking Club follows a similar model to Drewry’s other freight cost benchmarking services, providing a confidential, closed user group through which members can compare their ocean carrier buy rates against their peers. Information is available for over 4,000 worldwide port pairs. Membership is free to qualifying forwarders and NVOCCs. For further information contact Martin Dixon at dixon@drewry.co.uk.

Clecat has also joined an initiative started last year by Drewry and the European Shippers’ Council to define fair principles and a clear indexing mechanism for Bunker Adjustment Factors in container shipping.
