€1 billion for EU customs tech

The European Parliament and EU Member States have reached provisional agreement on a €1 billion fund for member states to buy, upgrade and maintain customs control equipment such as X-ray scanners, automated number plate detection systems and other non-intrusive detectors for border crossing points as well as a variety of laboratory equipment for goods analysis. It will contribute to the implementation of the Customs Action Plan adopted in September last year.
