Woodland Chicago site eases pressure on US supply chain

[ April 20, 2022   //   ]

UK-owned forwarder Woodland Group has updated and expanded its warehouse and fulfilment site in Chicago. The facility also offers space for the transloading of containers moving further inland as a result of congestion and significant space shortage at US ports.

As vessels are diverted from the West Coast to avoid delays, southeast US ports are now feeling the pressure of an increase in imports, with demand for space inland expected to increase over the summer months.

Woodland says that transloading has become a growing solution to recent supply chain congestion issues as it frees up trailers and containers to reload and eases pressures on ports struggling with labour shortages and lack of space.

The Chicago site offers 40,000 sq ft of warehouse space, eFulfillment, a Customs-bonded CFS and deliveries into all major retailers including Amazon.
