DFDS ‘in talks’ to acquire Ekol activities
[ October 19, 2022 // Chris Lewis ]Ferry and transport operator DFDS is in talks with Turkey’s Ekol Logistics to explore the possibility of acquiring the latter’s international road haulage activities, reports Transport Intelligence.
Ti says it is difficult to know the magnitude of this potential deal as road freight operations are central to Ekol, suggesting that it might cover only physical trucking operations outside of Turkey. However, it could be prelude to taking over the whole company.
DFDS has been building up both its ferry operations in the west Mediterranean while Ekol has a dense network of road, rail, sea and air services in the Mediterranean, Black Sea and the southern Caucus and is one of the leading logistics service providers in Turkey, says Ti. It also operates extensive services to Europe and is leading UK operator Davies Turner in Turkey.
