NTEX boosts Italy service with sea-rail deal
[ March 20, 2023 // Chris Lewis ]NTEX has signed a deal with Stena Line and Italian railway operator Hannibal to upgrade its combined transport service between Italy and the UK. NTEX, which has five offices in the UK, says the agreement will give it complete control of the operation with direct contact with Stena Line and its ferries as well as the railway.
NTEX UK group rail development manager, Ed Husselbee said that since its launch in 2021, the service had increased to daily departures along with a new twice a week service between Europort and Melzo.
The operator says that transport by train within Europe, combined with Stena Lines ferry services between the Netherlands and the United Kingdom cuts about 70% of CO2 emissions in comparison to road, offers quicker transit and increased trailer capacity with loading up to 28 tons, as well as freedom from road tolls, delays or weekend driving bans.
