Logistics UK welcomes longer trailers

Logistics UK has welcomed the government’s decision to permanently allow longer semi-trailers, announced today (10 May), saying it would reduce road emissions and costs. It said it would bring many environmental benefits by reducing congestion and numbers of vehicles on the road, as well as potentially increasing road safety.

It added that over the past few years of the trial, Logistics UK members have proved that LSTs provide operators with a cost-efficient, environmentally prudent alternative to conventional vehicles and remain committed to rolling them out across the wider industry as soon as possible.
