Freight experts in ‘dragon’s den’
[ May 11, 2023 // Chris Lewis ]MPs on the UK Parliament’s Transport Committee judged a series of Dragon’s Den-style pitches from transport experts and enthusiasts to convince them to adopt their idea as the subject of its next inquiry. Hopefuls at the sessions on 9 and 10 May included Maggie Simpson, director general of the Rail Freight Group who proposed: growing the UK’s rail freight sector in order to cut carbon emissions and boost the economy and Fran Collins, chair of the Maritime and Transport Action Group who suggested: Scrutinising the Government’s policy on integrating the UK’s road, rail, sea and air transport networks for passengers and freight.
