Deutches, Deustche, Deutsche – you know, those parcel people with the yellow vans…

[ June 19, 2023   //   ]

Great news for anyone who struggles with German spelling (that is, anyone who isn’t actually German) – Deutsche Post DHL Group is changing its name of to DHL Group from 1 July.

The company says the new name “reflects the transformation the Group has gone through in the past years and pays tribute to the focus on its national and international logistics activities”.

Of course, the real reason is that us linguistically-challnged Anglo-Saxons can never work out whether the ‘c’ goes in front of the ‘s’ – or is it the other way round?

If nothing else, it should make Google searches a little less fraught.

However, the Deutsche Post and DHL brands will continue to be used in Germany, says the company. “We are very proud of Deutsche Post’s tradition, its rich heritage and history that stretches back to the 15th Century,” says DHL’s Tobias Meyer. “We will continue to use and cherish the Deutsche Post brand in joint branding with DHL, and remain ‘The Post for Germany’.”

The DHL divisions will continue to operate under their current names, with one exception: DHL eCommerce Solutions division, which operates as “DHL Parcel” in some countries will consistently use the name DHL eCommerce. Or should that be Ecommerce? Or even e-commerce?
