Logistics UK welcomes Manston order

[ September 22, 2023   //   ]

Logistics UK has welcomed the upholding of the Development Consent Order for  Manston Airport in Kent. Policy advisor, Ellis Shelton, said: “Reviving Manston Airport for the transportation of freight is critical for supporting the UK economy as it will maximise international imports and exports and create further trade opportunities across the globe.”

Until it closure, Manston was widely by freighter aircraft operators as an alternative gateway to the major London hubs and is one of the few UK airports with significant capacity to handle all-cargo aircraft.

Its main use in recent years has been as an overflow area for trucks during disruption to cross-Channel services.
