FIATA and IATA appoint cargo commissioners
[ December 14, 2023 // Chris Lewis ]The International Federation of Freight Forwarders Association (FIATA) and the International Air Transport Association (IATA) have appointed two new Cargo Agency Commissioners.
Marco Alvarenga is commissioner for Area 1 & 2, encompassing Western Hemisphere (excluding the US), Europe, Middle East, and Africa. He has held several leadership positions in IATA over the past 35 years and recently retired from the Association.
Paul Cheetham is commissioner for Area 3, encompassing Asia, Australia, and South-West Pacific. He has held senior management roles in the air cargo industry for over 40 years.
The Cargo Agency Commissioner Program was set up in 1992 within the IATA Cargo Agency Program. he Cargo Agency Commissioner is an independent arbiter appointed jointly by IATA and FIATA to conduct reviews on decisions and/or actions affecting Agents/Intermediaries and applicants under the Cargo Agency Program and Intermediary programmes, including the Cargo Accounts Settlement System (CASS).
