Samskip moves across the Humber and adds Klaipeda
[ March 5, 2024 // Chris Lewis ]Short-sea operator Samskip is to switch the UK call for its weekly Baltic Sea service from Hull to the neighbouring ABP-owned Humber port of Immingham, on the other side of the Humber Estuary. Samskip has an owned truck fleet based at the port for deliveries.
At the same time, it is adding Klaipeda in Lithuania to the service, launched in November 2023. Departures from Klaipeda are on Saturday arriving in Immingham on Tuesday morning.
It will also increase capacity by deploying two 803teu container vessels on the route, which connects the UK and the Netherlands with Finland and the Baltic states.
Regional director – Baltic Sea, Johan van der Pijl, said: “We are excited to roll out these customer focused values to the Lithuanian market. Adding our own truck fleet based in Immingham, we are able offer customers a care-free and seamless door-to-door transport experience.”
