Woodland to turn Doncaster green

Woodland Group has unveiled plans for its largest solar installation to date at its 130,000sq ft in Doncaster.

It will provide over 60% of the site’s electricity and, together with efficient recycling, EV chargers, and sustainable modes of transport, it will become the Group’s flagship sustainable supply chain location.

The initiative has been launched in close collaboration with customer Who Gives a Crap, an Australian-based maker of sustainable toilet paper. Its director of sustainability, Bernie Wiley, said: “This is a huge win for us as it will essentially eliminate our emissions from electricity use in the UK, reducing our carbon footprint by 155 tonnes of CO2e emissions per year. The solar panels offer a long-term solution, eliminating emissions now and into the future. As we grow, our emissions won’t. Our short term aim is to have all warehouses globally powered by 100% renewables by the end of 2025.” 
Woodland has also added a solar panel installation at its Hayes facility in West london, where over the last six months it installed more than 526 panels, contributing to 60% of its energy needs at the site. 155 tonnes of CO2e emissions are predicted to be saved per year, drastically reducing the large logistics company’s environmental footprint.
