Christmas comes early – but not in a good way

[ June 3, 2024   //   ]

Houthi attacks on Red Sea shipping are prompting European retailers to place their Christmas orders early as the disruption threaten holiday deliveries., says visibility specialist, Project44. Vice-president of customer success, Tom Broome, said: ““In a time where geopolitical conflicts are becoming more prevalent, we must be prepared for never-normal supply chains to best mitigate the impact of disruption and stabilise the price and availability of goods.”

He added that conflict in the Middle East has also led to volatility in crude oil pricing, with prices are anticipated to climb up to $80/barrel, which is nearly $10 higher than the recent low of $68/barrel.
