Asia breakthrough for port of Liverpool

[ June 10, 2024   //   ]

MSC has launched a direct service from China, Vietnam and Singapore to Liverpool, the first regular link to the North-west port for many years.

The Britannia route will operate on a rotation: Shanghai-Ningbo-Yantian-Vung Tau (Vietnam)-Liverpool-Rotterdam-Antwerp-Hamburg-London gateway-Singapore-Shanghai

The first sailing will be on 1 July.

MSC said: “This sought after customer service connecting Asia to Liverpool direct will complement our other direct services to London and Felixstowe to provide an unrivalled premium service network throughout the UK.”

Peel Ports, owner of Liverpool, has mounted numerous campaigns over the last few years to persuade shipping lines to operate more direct services into the north-west, pointing out that it is one of the UK’s leading centres for imports and exports.
