Unifeeder signs green tech deal

DP World’s Unifeeder shortsea arm has signed a deal with MPC Container Ships ASA for energy efficiency technology.  The partners will invest in efficiency-enhancing retrofits with resulting cost savings. An independent third party, Vessel Performance Solutions ApS(VPS), will monitor on the installation of technical solutions to and measure the efficiency savings using real time data. The technology will include variable frequency drives to adjust power outputs to suit specific needs and a filtration system to purify lubeoil. All together, these are expected to cut emissions by over 10%.
