Combined Transfennica and CLdN service to offer more UK and Ireland connections

[ June 26, 2024   //   ]

Shortsea operators Transfennica and CLdN are to link up their shipping services in Zeebrugge to provide more connections through Northern and Western Europe. From 25 July. Transfennica’s Northern Baltic service between Antwerp and Hanko, Kotka, Rauma (Finland) and Paldiski (Estonia) will call at CLdN’s Albert II terminal in Zeebrugge every other Thursday enabling the exchange of northbound and southbound cargo.

Connections available via Zeebrugge on CLdN’s services include Tilbury, Killingholm, Teesport, Cork, Dublin, Santander and Leixos.

The combination will be available for containers, tank containers, trailers, reefers, automotive units, self-drives, breakbulk and other special cargo such as mobile machinery.

Transfennica managing director, Dirk Witteveen, said: “The extension of our network with the ports serviced by CLdN in the UK, Ireland, and Iberia will equip our customers with optimal solutions in the European short sea sector. Both companies share a strong customer-oriented approach, and we believe this cooperation will benefit existing and new customers from both companies.”

Chief operating officer of CLdN RoRo, Gary Walker, added: “This combination is an innovative and collaborative way to provide an even broader service and reach for our customers. Compared to long distance road transport it offers a reduced administrative and permitting burden and a significantly reduced CO2 footprint.”
