We’re the cleanest, claims CLdN
[ September 19, 2024 // Chris Lewis ]Belgian-owned short-sea line CLdN says its weighted average fleet emissions were 19% lower than its next-best performing short sea competitor and more than twice as efficient as road transport, in its fleet emission data for 2023, published on 19 September. The emissions figure of 39g CO2/tonne-km was due to new, larger, more fuel-efficient ro ro ships and in upgrades of its existing vessels. In 2025 the operator is due to take delivery of the two new 8,000 lane metre vessels currently under construction in South Korea that will further reduce CO₂ emission intensity by 40% for the same cargo capacity.
