Transport and logistics industry cycling teams in the UK and Kenya have raised over £225,000 for international development organisation Transaid projects in sub-Saharan Africa.

A team of 30 pedalled 295 miles, from the foothills of Mount Kenya to Lake Victoria in six days, raising £165,000 in Transaid’s first cycling fundraiser in the country. And a separate group of 40 riders raised £60,000 on the 159-mile, two-day ride from Newcastle to Edinburgh.

The funds will be used to support Transaid’s road safety and healthcare access projects, which currently span ten countries.
