Hapag-Lloyd orders two dozen new ships

Hapag-Lloyd has signed two contracts with two Chinese shipyards for a total of 24 new container ships – 12 of 16,800 TEU built by Yangzijiang Shipbuilding and 12 of 9,200 TEU, from New Times Shipbuilding. They will replace older vessels in the fleet that will be nearing the end of their service life in this decade. All of will be equipped with state-of-the-art low emission high pressure liquefied gas dual-fuel engines and can be operated on biomethane.
