IRU opens up China TIR route
[ November 18, 2024 // Chris Lewis ]The IRU-accredited TIR Logistics Hub in Zhengzhou in inland China has opened a new route to Kazakhstan. The first truck set off after completing its export customs declaration and TIR procedures at the hub, before exiting China through the Khorgos border crossing and arriving in Almaty. IRU said the 4,000km journey took only five days and saved 30% in costs compared with air and 50% in time compared with rail. The TIR hubs, of which three have opened this year, consolidate all transit services: customs clearance, warehousing, cargo handling, route development, and transport-capacity matching.
