FedEx offers small firms platform for growth

Federal Express has expanded its options for shipping platforms to integrate its services to give more options for small business customers. It has developed a programme that allows shipping platforms to easily integrate FedEx services into their products and applications via APIs (application programming interfaces). It complements the FedEx Compatible Solution Program which supports larger platforms.

Managing director marketing, at FedEx Europe, Stijn Meeus, commented:“A small ecommerce business just starting out is usually able to fulfil orders on their own through FedEx Ship Manager, our standard shipping application on fedex.com. However, once order volumes begin to grow or customers start to expand to other markets, they may look to shipping platforms, and we’re delighted to be able to facilitate the smaller shipping platforms now as well.”

The new programme means that more platforms can integrate FedEx services with lower overheads. The programme is free for shipping platforms to join and is largely self-service.
