DP World forwarding to open Brazil offices
[ December 19, 2024 // Chris Lewis ]DP World plans to open six new freight forwarding offices in Brazil by 2026. Offices in Campinas, Curitiba, Rio de Janeiro and Porto Alegre will open in 2025 followed by others in the North and Northeast regions in 2026. The expansion is expected to create 150 new jobs, in sales, operations and administration. Services available include FCL and LCL sea freight, air freight, domestic container road transport, international insurance and customs clearance.
DP World’s freight forwarding operations in Brazil are expected to handle about 75,000TEU annually within the next five years.
Fábio Siccherino, chief executive of DP World in Brazil, said: “This is a strategic addition to our network, which is constantly expanding, not only in Brazil, but throughout Latin America, and our aim is to make it easier for customers to access a fully integrated logistics platform that supports the flow of trade in local and international markets.”
Since mid-2023, the company has launched over 200 freight forwarding offices worldwide, including 20 across the Americas. This network includes Chile, Colombia, the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Panama, Peru, and Suriname. Future openings are planned in the US, Mexico City, and Buenos Aires.
The wider DP World Group operates one of the country’s largest private terminals at the Port of Santos which currently handles 1.4 million TEUs annually, with ongoing expansion set to increase capacity to 2.1 million TEUs per year.It has also signed a partnership with Rumo to develop a new grain and fertilizer terminal is expected to increase bulk handling capacity at the port by 12.5 million tons annually.
