Unite gets international backing for London Gateway campaign
[ April 18, 2013 // Chris ]The International Transport Workers Federation has backed the UK Unite union’s campaign to be recognised at DP World’s new London Gateway port. It followed a meeting in London on 17 April that unanimously backed the involvement of Unite the Union at the London Gateway terminal. The union has complained that while the new port is due to open in the autumn and is already recruiting around 2,500 workers, it has so far refused to recognise a trade union prior to the port’s opening.
