Liverpool signs union deal
[ February 24, 2014 // Chris ]The Unite trade union has signed a voluntary union recognition agreement with Peel Ports in Liverpool. It entitles engineering workers based at the Seaforth container terminal in Liverpool to be represented on both an individual and a collective basis on issues such as pay and terms and conditions. Unite regional officer Terry Teague said: “We look forward to working with the company to ensure the best working conditions for employees so that they can in turn deliver a high standard of service to the Seaforth container terminal and its new Liverpool 2 deep-water river container terminal on the River Mersey in Seaforth.”
Unite is currently locked in a dispute mwith DP World over union recognition at the new London Gateway container terminal.
