ABP and Peel chiefs takes the reins at UK Major Ports Group
[ November 22, 2023 // Chris Lewis ]The UK Major Ports Group (UKMPG), has appointed Associated British Ports (ABP) chief executive Henrik Pedersen as its new chair and Peel Ports chief executive Claudio Veritiero as vice chair.
Henrik Pedersen takes over from outgoing chair Charles Hammond chief executive of Forth Ports. Charles who has steered UKMPG through the turbulent waters of the COVID period, and significant Brexit changes.
Promoting sustainability and ports’ role in accelerating the UK’s journey towards net zero will be a key focus the new chair.
He said: “I am honoured to assume the role of chair of UKMPG and grateful for the opportunity to bring to the table all I have learnt at ABP and my knowledge of the global maritime industry. I would like to thank Charles for the fantastic work he has done during his tenure and hope to build on this solid foundation in order to grasp the opportunities presented by green growth.”
UKMPG members handle 75% of UK trade, and invest around £500 million per annum in UK ports and infrastructure.
