ABP tops the table for steel and agri exports
[ August 23, 2023 // Chris Lewis ]Associated British Ports (ABP) says that Newport has maintained its position as the leading steel port in the UK and Wales for the seventh consecutive year. According to Department for Transport’s statistics for 2022 it exported nearly 600,000 tonnes more steel than all other 14 major steel-handling UK ports combined, reaching 955,000 tonnes, or 72% of total UK exported iron and steel products from UK major ports.
ABP’s Port of Ipswich meanwhile retained its place as the number one export port for agricultural products for the 18th year in a row, beating London, Bristol and Great Yarmouth. Ipswich exported 631,000 tonnes of commodities in 2022, 23% of UK major ports’ market share.
