AEA calls for transatlantic air security standards
[ April 18, 2012 // Chris ]The Association of European Airlines (AEA) has called on the US to fully recognise European cargo security standards and to sign a mutual recognition agreement. AEA secretary-general Ulrich Schulte-Strathaus said in a statement released on 16 April: “At the moment, European airlines have to seek cargo security approval on both sides of the Atlantic,” which led to unnecessary duplication. He added that several European countries including the UK, have however recently concluded recognition agreements with the US with several others currently being negotiated. “Once we have a critical build-up of US approvals, an EU-wide deal will be a simple next step,” said Schulte-Strathaus.
