Air charterer sees summer surge
[ August 9, 2021 // Chris ]Charter broker Air Partner says it is expecting increased demand for dedicated cargo flights from major retailers due to the ongoing shortages of HGV drivers, and workers taking their summer break in August. UK head of freight, Robert Jubb, said that previous complications to supply chains due to Covid and Brexit saw enquiries for air freight increase by 60% to meet demand for orders typically fulfilled via sea and road. He expects this trend to continue in the short-term as logistics and haulier organisations are struggling to recruit qualified HGV drivers in a post-Brexit landscape and demand from retailers grows. Demand could surge from mid-September ahead of the Christmas rush for high-value items such as designer clothes, game consoles and laptops.”
