Appeal launched to help heroes of Ukraine’s rails

The ALLRAIL non-profit European operators association together with global the United Way charitable organisation and its German branch have launched an appeal to provide targeted help to the Ukrainian rail sector.

The national rail system is playing a vital role in the struggle, including the private sector freight operator Ukmetallurgtrans, which is still running trains, passenger and freight, in the face of serious bombardment.

The Ukrainian rail system is the lifeline for refugees, medicine, food and other humanitarian aid. Already more than 80 rail workers have died keeping it running.

Lately, Russia was reported to be intensifying its attacks on the system in a bid to cut Ukraine’s links to the outside world.
