Basra terminal hits 4m TEU mark
[ May 23, 2023 // Chris Lewis ]Basra Gateway Terminal, International Container Terminal Services’ operation at Iraq’s Port of Umm Qasr celebrated its four millionth TEU after nine years of operation at the country’s busiest port.
The record was achieved with the unloading operation of the Yang Ming vessel YM Mutuality.
ICTSI has invested more than USD300 million to modernize and expand the multipurpose terminal, including the construction of three new berths, rehabilitation of three existing ones, and new port equipment including post-Panamax ship-to-shore cranes, allowing the terminal to handle ships up to 14,000teu.
