BIFA calls for freight-friendly Budget

[ March 7, 2017   //   ]

BIFA has called on the Chancellor to do more for the freight and logistics sector ahead of tomorrow’s Budget.

With the challenging economic outlook post Brexit and uncertainty over future trading relations with Europe, director general Robert Keen asked Phillip Hammond to take some immediate steps to improve the operating environment for the sector.

Keen pointed out: “For some years there has been a freeze on fuel duty. Now we repeat our call for an outright cut, the introduction of an essential user rebate and some form of fuel duty stabilisation mechanism.”
He also said it would be good to hear more good news about spending on roads and other transport infrastructure.
