[ August 10, 2022 // Chris Lewis ]With the European Union calling for greenhouse gas emissions to be cut by at least 55% by 2030, Japanese-owned forwarder Nippon Express has launched a last-mile delivery in Venice using hydrogen-powered boats for deliveries, primarily to luxury fashion shops. The boats are equipped with removable hydrogen generators, and they emit far less CO2 than gasoline and diesel engines.
Central Venice is accessible only by water – there are no powered road vehicles – so all deliveries must be by water.
