Cargolux puts temporary ban on Li-ion batteries

Cargolux Airlines has temporarily banned lithium ion battery shipments following an IATA recommendation to carry out a risk assessment. The ban does not apply to lithium ion batteries packed with or contained in equipment. The all-cargo carrier has already banned shipments of lithium metal batteries after a previous risk assessment. Cargolux says it will assess different options to identify if technology exists or can be developed to make the transportation of bulk shipments of lithium batteries safe.
