CBI wants Exports Commission

Business organisation, the CBI has called for an independent, national Exports Commission to turn around the UK’s performance. It proposes a body similar to the Low Pay Commission, or the recently established Infrastructure Commission, for exports and would bring together businesses, economists and a cross-party bench of politicians to give independent advice to the Government on long-term export targets and how to deliver them.

It also recommends a one stop shop of Government support and advice for exporters on a single, easily navigable website, arguing that many medium-sized businesses are put off selling their goods and services overseas because they find it hard to identify opportunities.
