CDS exports goes live
[ March 19, 2024 // Chris Lewis ]HM Revenue and Customs says that traders can now move their export declarations to the new Customs Declaration Service (CDS), the replacement for the existing CHIEF computer.
There will be a transition period to until 4 June 2024 after which declarations cannot be submitted CHIEF, it adds.
CDS is already handling import declarations and is already handling 30% of export declarations, says HMRC.
HMRC’s director of border change delivery, Sarah Hartley, said: “We are encouraging businesses to move over as soon as they can so the transition to CDS is as smooth as possible for everyone.”
HMRC says it will continue to provide help and support to businesses moving to CDS in coming months and continue to work closely with the border industry throughout this process.
