Cherbourg rail terminal to open in 2024
[ March 17, 2022 // Chris ]Ports of Normandy says that its new multimodal terminal will open in 2024, linking the south-east of France to the UK.
The scheme, which has been under development for the past two years, although progress has been disrupted by Covid, has received a major boost with confirmation of participation by Brittany Ferries. The port operator said that it would now open a public consultation to minimise the impact of the new terminal.
Britanny Ferries said it also planned to create a terminal in Mouguerre in the Bayonne region 950km from Cherbourg and would use Lohr technology to carry trailers on rail wagons.
